Yes, it's true, your girls are at it again! Rosie Train, Meghan Jamal, and Emma LaFrance are teaming up for the second year in a row to participate in the Tri for a Cure. Each year, over 1,300 women gather in South Portland to swim, bike & run in Maine Cancer Foundation’s Tri for a Cure - Maine's largest fundraising triathlon. Thanks to the efforts of thousands of supporters, the Tri for a Cure has raised almost $22 million for Maine Cancer Foundation, every dollar of which has been reinvested into Maine communities for cancer prevention, early detection, and access to care. Cancer tries, but we TRI harder! If this is your first time learning about this life-changing event please let me introduce you to our TRI team!

Rosie will be competing in the first leg of the race as our swimmer. This will be her seventh year as a 'triathlete'. Rosie will be swimming ⅓ mile right here in Casco Bay.  Born and raised right here in Portland Maine, Rosie is no stranger to the waters that she will be diving into. Rosie has spent her entire life on the waters of the Casco Bay. Her father and uncle are both lobstermen and she has been considering getting her own recreational lobstering license. Rosie is a huge part of the community here and plans to keep it that way! This event is important to Rosie because both of her grandfathers have had cancer and she has seen firsthand the challenges that patients face during and after treatment. She is overwhelmingly proud and grateful that both of her grandfathers survived cancer and are still here to tell the story!

Next up is Meghan who will be competing in the second leg of the race as our biker. This is her second year participating as a 'triathlete'. She will be biking 15 miles from SMCC through the Cape Elizabeth loop. Meghan is not a Maine native but you wouldn’t know it! She is originally from New York but has resided in Maine for the last 12 years. If there is an opportunity to be a part of something great no matter how big or small, Meg is there! Meghan is dedicating her leg of the Tri for a cure to her grandmother who she lost to cancer in October of last year.

Last but certainly not least we have Emma who is our Runner. This is also her second year participating as a 'triathlete'. She will be running 3 miles through the beautiful area surrounding the SMCC campus. Emma was born in Fall River Massachusetts and moved to Maine in 2018. Emma is an avid runner and has competed in many events similar to this one! She has run in 3 full Marathons and plans to do another in January. All of these were for a good cause and she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon!

This event is one that we all hold very near and dear to our hearts. Cancer has a huge impact on so many lives. Our hope is that with each passing year, this event makes a LARGER impact! Last year between all 1,300 Triathletes a whopping  $772,776.28 was raised for Maine’s cancer foundation! This year the TRI for a Cure hopes to make it to the $2 Million mark.

Meghan, Emma, and I each have a goal of raising $2,000 each which brings us to $6,000 as a team! We would love to blow to the top right off of that goal and we can’t do it without your help! It would mean the world to us if you could share the link below and/or donate to the cause. We are lucky enough to be able to represent Luke's Lobster at this event and help raise money for the fight against cancer!

WE WILL NOT WAIT. WE WILL NOT QUIT. WE WILL TRI FOR A CURE!
