While each and ever TRI is exhilarating, emotional and memorable, this year is very different from the rest. This past October we regretfully lost our mother, Pam Deschambeault (a.k.a - Mad-Damn-P), to her relentless battle with cancer. She courageously battled both breast and uterine cancers since 2009. In those eight years she underwent multiple operations and countless rounds of chemo plus radiation therapies. Through all of the unpleasantries of this fight she remained our fearless fighter, our candid mother, but importantly our biggest raving fan and toughest challenger!
This year I will once again be participating in the relay with my fellow TUMORNATORS. The team has been fortunate to have several different faces (including Emily Walsh & Nicole Jehlen) in the races over the years, but we all are, and will always be, TUMORNATOR TEAMMATES. Despite the TUMORNATOR team roster shuffles, Mad-Damn-P has always been a constant source of inspiration for this incredible event.
New to the team this year is my amazing sister Amanda, aka Danger-Da-Mangler, who will be running the 5K portion. The beautiful Meghan Felton, a melanoma survivor herself, will be making the plunge into the frigid Atlantic ocean for the swim portion. That leave me with biking 15.5 miles of rolling hills in addition to raising money to help beat this terrible disease and support those suffering from it. We are committed to raising a minimum of $10,000, and we need your help to achieve this goal.
I am so honored to be competing this year along side so many strong, determined, and courageous women as we swim, bike and run in memory of so many we love and miss, including my mom!
We will not Wait - We will not Quit - We will TRI for a Cure… so that maybe someday, just maybe events like this won’t be necessary!
This one is for you, Mad-Damn-P!
