This year I'll be participating in the 13th Annual Maine Cancer Foundation Tri for a Cure. MCF is committed to reducing cancer incidence and mortality rates in Maine, with 100% of funds raised by the Foundation used to benefit the people of Maine.
I am a 15 year SURVIVOR of Breast Cancer. This year’s TRI is 'virtual'! I have struggled with all aspects of how I will be motivated to train, how I will ask for donations in such a ridiculously difficult time in the world, and how on earth I will get through a 1/3 of a mile swim, a 15 mile bike, and a 3 mile run without the support of the amazing athletes that do this event and encourage each other every second of the course....how? I have thought about dropping out more then once over the past few months.
And then I remember....Cancer does not quit.
I am doing this for my mom, who is a 20 year breast cancer survivor. I am doing this in memory of dear friends, Annie, Jan, and Althea. I am doing this for Sara, Amy, Kathy, Lisa, Michele, & Bobbi who are fighting cancer as we speak! I am doing this because we all know far too many people that are affected by cancers. And I am doing this because I have battled much harder things physically & mentally and we all know too many people whose lives are impacted negatively by cancer every... single... day!
So I will do this! It won't be pretty and it won't be perfect....BUT I will TRI - harder!
Thank you for taking the time to read my page and considering making a donation of any size during these crazy times.
From the bottom of my heart, I am so very appreciative!
