This year I'll be participating in the 11th Annual Maine Cancer Foundation Tri for a Cure as a tribute to my dad. My dad has always been an avid cyclist. So much so that most of our father-daughter time, from my adolescence to present day, has been spent on bicycles or occasionally running. It was during these times that he listened and offered me guidance as I tried to navigate life. In May 2017, my dad was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma that would ultimately take one lung and part of his heart. We spent many months traveling to Boston/Dana Farber as he faced his biggest challenge with such grit-and it was during this time that he adopted the mindset "tougher than a $2 steak." So it is only fitting that I honor him-my dad, the cyclist, the competitor-in a race of my own. Here's to you, Dad! May you stay TOUGHER THAN A $2 STEAK!!
