Hard to believe I actually did my very first Triathlon in 2006.....the year I turned 50 along side my dear friend and Tri Founder, Julie Jordan Marchese. And now I have just turned 62 and I am still HERE!!!! And, if the gods are with me, I will finish my 14th triathlon on Sunday, July 22nd at the Eleventh Annual Tri for a CURE at SMCC in South Portland and celebrate my 19th year since being diagnosed with breast cancer!!
I Tri slow and steady...but that works just fine for me! And for the Eleventh year, I have THE best job.....I start the course first and finish last! Just my speed! Someone has to do it, and I am honored to have this very special role!! I love to keep everyone motivated along the course.....so, if you ever see the listing of finish times in the paper...well, now you know the rest of the story why I TRI!!
Over the past ten years, the Tri for a CURE event has been nothing short of life changing for many women ...and we have raised well over $10 million dollars for the Maine Cancer Foundation too! This year we hope to again break the $2 million dollar mark just for our 2018 event! And with your help, I hope to raise over $13,000.00 for the Tri for a Cure as well!!!
I hope you will dig deep and consider a donation today! And remember...100% of all money raised stays IN Maine and makes a difference for our families, friends and neighbors.
