I am sending a HUGE THANK YOU to friends and family who have already donated to the Maine Cancer Foundation in my name to benefit this incredibly worthy cause!!!!! It is so appreciated.
Quickly approaching, on July 23rd, I will be participating in the 11th Annual Maine Cancer Foundation Tri for a Cure in Portland, Maine. I will be doing a 1/3 mile ocean swim and two longtime friends on my team will do the running and biking portion. I have been swimming in Maine and also at the YMCA, but this swim is nothing compared to what many endure who fight a daily battle with cancer. As many of you know, Maine is near and dear to my heart. Maine Cancer Foundation is committed to reducing cancer incidence and mortality rates in Maine, with 100% of funds raised by the Foundation used to benefit the people of Maine. They lead a state-wide effort to advance the most promising and effective cancer-fighting efforts available through a combination of grant-based financial support and coalition building. MCF's Challenge Cancer 2020 initiative is working to reduce cancer incidence and mortality in Maine 20% by 2020 through prevention, screening and early detection, and access to the highest quality care for every Mainer.
Last summer I lost my childhood best friend, Linda, after an 8 week battle with ovarian cancer. Last July my husband Rob had surgery for removal of cancer and then endured 34 radiation treatments in August. A good friend Dan is currently battling against this disease. I have another friend, Lois, now battling breast cancer, another, Susan, who recently passed away. For these people, and many more I do not know, I will raise money, and I will swim, in hopes that in my lifetime we can make huge strides in the fight against cancer. I ask you to join with me in the battle against cancer. Think of friends and family YOU know who have had or currently have cancer and donate for them. I sincerely thank you for considering donating to this most worthy cause.
Every dollar counts! Please consider a donation. Cancer tries but we TRI harder!
