For the past 10 years I have had the privilege of competing in The Tri For A Cure. I am proud to say I am one of only 12 people who have done it all 10 years. I would be the first to say I am a participant, not a competitor. My completion time will not put me in the top half of my age group but I am hopeful that my fundraising will land me in the top 10 of the 1300 or so competitors. Last year I was number 13. (so close!) Will you consider donating to my efforts to reach the top 10? That despicable disease Cancer has impacted each and every one of us. I do this race each year in hopes that one day a cure will be found. (and I can retire from Triathlons!) I have been swimming and recently had a break though with my strokes and I took spinning all winter so I am hopeful my biking may be a little better than last year. My running needs work but I have been out there early each morning walking fast and hoping for a miracle! Thank you so much for your consideration. Your support is much appreciated! Gratefully, Jean
Maine Cancer Foundation is dedicated to reducing cancer incidence and mortality rates in Maine. 100% of funds raised by the Foundation are used to benefit the people of Maine. They lead a state-wide effort to foster and grow the most promising and effective cancer-fighting efforts available to the people of Maine through a combination of grant-based financial support and coalition building.
Their goals are to:
Foster Prevention Practices: The best cancer is the one that never occurs. Prevention strategies have a proven impact on cancer incidence rates. The Foundation supports state-wide prevention efforts, focusing on smoking, healthy lifestyles and preventative care.
Increase Cancer Screening: Early detection saves lives. Several cancers have well-developed treatments but all cancers have better patient outcomes when detected early. The Foundation supports programs that improve and increase early detection and screening efforts.
Improve Patient Outcomes: Maine lives matter. The Foundation supports efforts to improve patient outcomes through patient impact programs, the adoption of new technologies and investment in scientific research for the next generation of treatments.100% of the money raised for MCF stays in the state of Maine, offering critical services close to home, and making a difference in the lives of our friends, families, and neighbors.
