I’m so excited to be participating for the third year in the MCF’s 2018 Tri for a cure. The 2017 Tri for a Cure was a huge success for me personally and again an unbelievable experience. With the support of family and friends I raised more $$$ than the year before and I’m hoping to surpass that amount this year.
I continue to be “inspired” by the grit, courage, perseverance and camaraderie of all the athletes. It was so awesome to see all those pink capped cancer survivors entering the ocean first to start the event. It brought tears to my eyes. This is the reason my team name remains “The Inspired”.
I have many family and friends who have had cancer. When I was twenty-four years old my mother died of pancreatic cancer at the age of sixty-two. That was when I became aware of how important it is to support cancer research. My husband Steve has had two different cancers and thankfully has been successfully treated and is now cancer free. I’m so pleased the medical advances and treatments have resulted in a positive outcome for him and many others. There’s so much more to be done. That is why I’m participating in the Tri for a Cure for a third year and doing my part fundraising for the Maine Cancer Foundation.
