I am back for another! Thanks to all the generous donations received last year, I automatically earned a spot in the 2018 Tri-For-A-Cure! I am so grateful for all the support, and I am looking forward to competing in memory of Alec once again.
Throughout the last 8 years of my life (2 of which Alec was battling cancer) I found so much peace and comfort in being outside...moving. Running, biking, swimming. I believe that my physical health is tied to my mental health and it is how I coped, how I still cope. When I find myself sinking into that dark place, I head outside...and I move. Fitness has been my drug, it connects me to nature and gives me hope, healing and happiness.
MIND.BODY.SOUL. It is all connected.
This race is so near and dear to my heart. The fact that it takes place in my beloved state of Maine, where Alec and I had planned on spending the rest of our lives. The fact that it is all women...strong, determined, healthy women, who have a cause, a reason, a mission. And finally, that all the money raised goes to cancer. Cancer research, prevention, screening and improving cancer outcomes.
I am looking forward to this years race, Chase is once again my trainer, riding his bike next to me as I run, and keeping a lookout for sharks while I swim. I could not do it without him, that is for sure!
Any donation is so GREATLY appreciated! Without my family and friends loving support, I never could have made it this far. And I am going to keep TRI-ING Tri-ing for a cure!
